Most of us feel that maintaining a good health doesn't contain maintaining good oral health. In fact, oral health reflects the uncut status of the health. Dental Loupe is a Tool

Few months ago, I met an instructor of a dental hygiene program. Her school is known and favorite surrounded by students. The school is often referred to as a futuristic playground for dental hygiene students, and the instructor understandably is very proud of the reputation.

It was a communal gathering; the seminar took a turn on to the need of binocular loupes for dental hygiene students. It is always bright to hear the point of view of those complex in formal scholastic settings, as magnification loupes is thought about controversial by many in the scholastic setting.

Dental Story

While she acknowledged that dental loupes might be useful at the older age, she no ifs ands or buts argued aggressively that her students did not need these costly devices since they did not need optical enhancement.

Loupes do improve the clinical image, but this is not the only think why dental hygiene students wear the loupes was my argument.

I asked her to explain; why is that studies show recurring evidence of dental hygienists complaining about neck and shoulder pain and why one out of five dental hygienists give up their work early.

The write back is clear.

Dental hygienists also put long hours performing their procedures. Each sitting with a patient is ½ hour to 1 hour long. This no ifs ands or buts puts strain on shoulders, neck, back and eye nerves. At the young age we do not feel this strain as our body is strong and can no ifs ands or buts withstand it. Constant strain on these parts moderately takes its toll and symptoms come to be graphic at the later part of one's career. As bodies get weaker and capability of sitting for long hours gets reduced, dental hygienists are forced to give up their career.

Visual enhancement does help while assessments in probe reading, tissue characteristics, etc; but the most important think to wear a loupe is to cut the risk of developing musculoskeletal problems.

Does having loupes solve musculoskeletal problems for every dental hygienist, she immediately argued.

No they will not, was my reply, and then I further explained, dental loupes are plainly a tool and as with every tool, dental loupes can only help you if

  • You are using it on regular basis
  • You selected a capability loupe correctly matching to your needs.

A loupe does not directly cut the risk of musculoskeletal problems, it is your literal, posture which reduces the strain on your back, neck and shoulder nerves and thereby reduces the risk of developing musculoskeletal problems at later stage. Loupes can help you articulate your literal, posture.

What about exercises, they can also cut the risk of such physical pain, she asked.

No one can deny the significance of exercises, but one has to understand that exercises are reducing the effects of strain on your body, whereas literal, posture reduces the strain itself. They both are complementary and should be part of every dental expert practice. We, as part of Stac schooling Series developed special yoga exercises for dental hygienists but the exercises do not cut the significance of having literal, posture.

How can loupes help articulate the literal, posture, was her next question.

The key is working length and depth of view. Every loupe has a fixed working length and a small range within which image remains focused and this range is called depth of view.

Let's take an example. Hygienist A has the habit of leaning over the patients while performing a procedure. The length between her eyes and the mouth of the patient is commonly 325-350mm. With the literal, posture of her body, the ideal length is 420mm. She buys a binocular loupe with 420 working length and let's further assume the depth of view for that loupe is 50mm. As it happens with every dental professional, when you are cautious you try to articulate your literal, posture but as you get absorbed into your procedure, you unconsciously form the posture what you are habitual off. Hygienist A, who has the habit of leaning closer to patient, when starts wearing a loupe with a working length of 420. As she bends her image will come to be blurry when her length reduces to lower than 370mm. She will immediately lean backward to her literal, posture. This will moderately convert her habit.

Therefore a correctly chosen loupe not only maintains your posture it can convert your incorrect posture habit.

There is other aspect one has to understand. Any damage on the body parts is irreversible. Therefore, it is equally important to create and articulate the habit of literal, posture and the habit of doing the right kind of exercises ordinarily at the young age itself. Therefore it is our responsibility to by comparison and supply dental students the suitable set of tools.

After much encouragement she agreed to wear the loupe for a month to feel the effect.

I visited her school the next day and helped her too find her literal, working distance. I gave her Stac 3.0x Flip Up Loupe with 420mm working distance. After a month she met me with a changed opinion. As she promised, she used her Stac Loupe every day while last month. She feels comfortable and less strained; she admitted that she does not feel any heaviness in her back, shoulder or neck area and her frequency of headaches also was reduced. She feels she cannot live without her Stac Loupe.

I asked to convey her first hand contact to her class also. It is critical that every profession begin to take responsibility for their physical well-being. The leadership has to come from you as an instructor.

The rest is plainly a story of her arranging the presentation in the class, students followed her as an example and today every pupil in her class got their own loupe. She encourages them every day to make it a habit of wearing the loupe in every custom session.

The Dangers of Dental Anxiety and Dental Phobia

Many citizen have a fear of their dentist and many often avoid looking one for as long as they can. It seems to me that most of these people's fears are from either bad experiences at the dentist or are naturally irrational. I attend my dental custom every six months and have never had a question visiting my dentist. I have had x-rays, my wisdom teeth have been pulled out and my teeth have been polished but the one thing I have never had done is a filling.

From speaking to my friends and house most citizen seem to have a question with fillings. I've heard tales of giant needles being plunged into gums and then the age-old story of the anesthetic not working as your teeth are pulled from your mouth. Having never experienced a filling I can't tell if these are exaggerations or not but if you do suffer from dental custom phobia it can supervene you badly as many citizen put off looking the dentist altogether.

Dental Story

Avoiding going to the dentist can be very bad for your dental hygiene. Failure to visit the dentist can supervene in tooth decay and gum disease. Dentists also consideration other changes in your mouth and can be the first to consideration developments of mouth cancer and can therefore save your life.

For these reasons dental practices are looking for ways to overcome dental anxiety in order to get citizen to come back to the dentist. They have been contribution patients the chance to discuss their fears with their dentist and the possible solutions to overcome these fears. Stress, Acidity, and Dental Decay

I was at a barbecue this weekend and met a physician there. I'll call him Dr. T. We got talking about disease and the disease business. Of procedure I was fairly quick to bring up the issue of acidosis and alkalinity. I was surprised to find that this physician was in fact up to date with his knowledge and understanding colse to the mechanisms of disease. We had a fairly frank discussion.

The short story is that it seems there are a few doctors who are aware of the point of alkalinity in the arresting of conditions that lead to disease. Dr. T indicated to me that the healing profession is aware that persons who are adequately hydrated with properly alkalized water generate intra-cellular conditions that make it difficult, if not impossible, for defective or mutated cells to replicate. In layman's terms, this appears to mean that under the right circumstances, disease cannot exist.

Dental Story

I asked him why, then, is there not more concentration given to this. I found the reply somewhat annoying. The way the healing principles in many western countries is set up, doctors are not paid well for subjective intervention such as discussing diets, and corporeal processes. They are paid well for treating symptoms for patients in rapid succession. A general practitioner might reasonably see 45 to 60 patients per day under this model. If he or she were to consult fully with their clients, there would be time for only about 5 to 10 patients per day.

Dr. T told me that he had seen the effects of high acid diets, especially since the introduction of all these "energy drinks". He told me of one beloved drink that within one hour of involving a can of this stuff, his clients blood cells looked like the blood cells of a 75 year old man. The blood was thick and sticky. He indicated that these drinks are of concern to the health care industry. There is no pharmaceutical remedy for this kind of self abuse.

At the same time, we talked about the great benefits of alkalinity. Dr. T. Told me about a client he had that was under a lot of stress. As a result, her body was producing weighty amounts of acid. In an attempt to operate the acid, his client did what most population are told to do for stress. She exercised more! What she did not comprehend is that practice turns up the volume on acid output considerably. When you breathe more and work your muscles you are building up lactic acid, carbonic acid and a range of blood acids. Dr. T's client began to touch her teeth pitting and rotting. It was as though they suddenly all decided to rot out of her head. The acid was eating away at the enamel quickly.

Dr. T swiftly put his client on a high alkaline water and roughly immediately the dental decay was arrested. She had dental work done to heal the damage and after 5 months of general practice and a high alkaline diet, she had no dental decay and was finding and feeling very well.

As the story of alkalinity get out, more and more population will get onboard and fix their diets. It doesn't take much attempt to in fact get on the right path.

Why You Should Look For a Dentist That Does Dental Implants and Invisalign

In expanding to Invisalign braces or even accepted braces for teeth, your local dental office also offers other services such as teeth whitening, cavity treatments, professional cleanings and dental implants. This is a field of dentistry known as prosthodontics.

An implant is as a matter of fact a prosthetic tooth, usually made from ceramic and anchored with a titanium screw. When located by a dental surgeon who is thoroughly trained and experienced in this kind of work - and in case, granted the patient is a favorable candidate and practices good oral hygiene - implants have a success rate of approximately 95%. They are a much better alternative to bridgework and partials.

Dental Story

Costs of Dental Implants

The main drawback of implants is that they can be very expensive and are not usually covered by dental assurance plans. However, in order to make dental implantation as affordable as potential for the greatest number of people, your local dental office can come up with financing and cost plans to fit your budget.

Who Can advantage from Dental Prosthodontics?

Those who have lost teeth because of an emergency are usually the best candidates. Of course, even those who are conscientious about oral hygiene can get a cavity, and if a tooth is lost because of decay, an implant may help.

People who are not good candidates for implantation are smokers, those who suffer from periodontal (gum) disease, and those taking immuno-suppressant drugs (such as transplant patients). However, there are other alternatives available, about which you can learn more from your dental professional.

The Story of Dental Implantation

Many citizen are surprised to learn that the first dental implantation surgery was done over 1,400 years ago in what is now Central America and the Yucatan region of Mexico. Mayan surgeons are known to have used carved bits of seashell to replace natural teeth. This knowledge is based on an archaeological find in 1931 and subsequent radiological tests performed on the human remains 40 years later, showing that the patient had still been alive when the procedure was done.

In the 1950s, study at the University of Cambridge demonstrated fascinating properties of titanium that cause bone tissue to bond with it. The customary study was aimed at applications for orthopedic surgery, but the principle proved equally efficient when it came to dentistry. In 1959, Italian prosthodontist Dr. Stefano Tremonte created the first practical dental implant for a human patient; within ten years, the techniques were being used colse to the world.

Implant Surgery

Implants are done in two stages. While the first appointment, the hole is drilled and the titanium screw inserted. This is a small more complicated than it sounds; in order to preclude the bone from being damaged, it is indispensable to begin with a very small hole, then moderately widen the opening with drill bits of graduated sizes. Once the allowable size has been achieved, the titanium screw, which will serve as an "artificial root" and anchor the prosthesis to the jaw, is inserted.

After the bone has had an opening to fuse with the titanium, the actual prosthetic tooth is inserted and secured.
